On 21 June 2025, the ALICE Summit hosted the Lawyer of Change Awards in Berlin. As part of ALICE's 10th anniversary, they celebrated extraordinary personalities who have made a significant contribution to the LGBTIQ+ community in the legal industry. The Awards honour inspiring lawyers who bring about positive change through their commitment and achievements.
In three categories – Rising Star, Ally, and Role Model – the Awards recognise talents, role models and allies who work tirelessly for equality and acceptance, whilst giving its winners an opportunity to recognise their work and share their stories.
• Rising Star of Change: For next-generation talents (under 35 years old) who make significant contributions to the advancement of LGBTIQ+ rights early in their careers.
• Ally of Change: For allies who, as non-queer allies, make a valuable contribution to supporting and promoting the LGBTIQ+ community in the legal world.
• Role Model of Change: For lawyers who act as inspiring role models for the queer community and encourage others.
Here are the Winners of the Lawyers of Change 2025! 🏆
Rising Star of Change: Ardit Jusufi
Ardit is currently completing his legal clerkship at the Court of Appeal in Berlin and serving as a legal clerk in the litigation team at Osborne Clarke, where he has also been a co-founder and co-chair of the LGBTIQ network OC Pride since 2023. Ardit is committed to queer visibility early on in her legal career and brings queer perspectives to the judiciary, politics and the law firm.
Ally of Change: Denise Tayler
Denise Tayler is a lawyer in the Mergers & Acquisitions practice at Baker McKenzie. As an M&A lawyer, she shapes global transactions – and simultaneously advocates visibly for queer inclusion and allies in the legal industry.
Role Model of Change: Dr. Malte Stübinger
Dr. Malte Stübinger is General Counsel, Germany, at international litigation finance company Deminor Litigation Funding and is responsible for business development in the DACH region and in Scandinavia. At the same time, he is head of the "Collective Consumer Claims" practice group. Malte has been an advocate for the rights of marginalised minorities, especially the LGBTQ community, since the beginning of his legal career, with a special focus on representation and equal opportunities in the legal industry.
In his former law firm, he was instrumental in establishing the DEI structures in Germany and actively brought them to life both internally and externally, which makes him all the more concerned to see how many law firms are now scrapping these initiatives under pressure from the US administration without any resistance. On panels, in podcasts, or as a keynote speaker, Malte does not mince his words, openly addressing discrimination and problems while still trying to maintain an optimistic perspective. He is married and the father of a daughter. In 2019, Malte's husband and he were the first gay couple in Hamburg to become parents through the regular adoption route.

ALICE judges specifically mentioned how Malte has been "campaigning for LGBTIQ+ rights in the legal industry for years and combines professional commitment with a clear stance on diversity and equal opportunities."
On winning this award, Malte commented:
Great joy! I was actually able to accept the "Role Model of Change" award of the Lawyer of Change Awards as the winner at the ALICE JuristInnen-Summit in Berlin. It's great to see that my commitment to the rights and interests of minorities, especially the LGBTQ community, is seen and appreciated. Many thanks to all 900+ people who voted online, and congratulations also to my co-nominees as well as the winners in the two other categories.
